Project title: Application of the "Modular Design" approach to the production of industrial insulation in practice.
The applicant operates a company whose object is the installation of thermal insulation. His experience shows that the implementation of thermal insulation has remained unchanged for many years: first, insulating material is applied to a specific object, then a sheet metal jacket is manufactured in the production hall and fitted to the insulation.
This method has many disadvantages and creates the following problems:
- The production of the coat requires extensive experience on the part of the employees (first an exact measurement must be carried out, then the material is processed in the workshop),
- is durable: each element is assembled individually,
- is expensive: several measurements, expensive corrections, several visits to the facility.
The answer to the problems identified is the applicant's own project, the scope of which includes the purchase of the necessary machinery and equipment. These devices are required to create an original solution: a modular insulating cover with lock that contains both the material and the insulating cover in one and can be installed at the customer's site, which is the answer to the problems diagnosed above.
Planned results: The impact of the project will be the implementation of a new product in the form of a modular insulation jacket for industrial infrastructure and the implementation of a process innovation consisting in the improvement of the insulation assembly process using the "Modular Design" concept. The effects are achieved through investments in fixed assets in the form of machinery and the employment of fitters/operators for these machines.
